Terms of Service
Last updated: May 21, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of River of Light — the mobile app, the web app at app.riveroflight.app, the River of Light Chrome extension, and related services (together, the “App”) — provided by North Island Technologies, LLC (“we”, “us”, “our”). By using the App, you agree to these Terms.
What River of Light Is
River of Light is a music companion. It connects to streaming services you already use (such as Spotify and YouTube Music), helps you curate your library, generates personalized recommendations, and lets you ask for songs in plain English. You will need an account, and most features require connecting at least one streaming service.
Your Account
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for activity that happens under your account. Notify us at support@riveroflight.app if you suspect someone else is using your account.
Subscriptions
River of Light offers an auto-renewable subscription, billed through Apple.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the same price unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- You can manage and cancel your subscription in your App Store account settings.
- Refunds, where applicable, are handled by Apple.
Third-Party Services
River of Light works alongside services you already use. By connecting them, you also agree to their terms.
- Spotify. Connecting Spotify authorizes River of Light to read your library and listening data and to create or modify playlists on your behalf. Your use of Spotify itself is governed by Spotify’s terms. You can revoke our access at any time at spotify.com/account/apps.
- YouTube Music. The Chrome extension reads from your existing browser session on music.youtube.com. Your use of YouTube Music is governed by Google’s terms.
We do not control these services. We cannot guarantee they will stay available, that their APIs will not change, or that your connection will not be interrupted.
AI-Generated Content
River of Light uses AI models — currently Anthropic Claude, hosted on Amazon Bedrock — to generate recommendations, descriptions, and chat replies.
- AI output can be wrong, incomplete, or out of date. Do not rely on it for anything important without checking.
- We do not endorse the content of AI-generated descriptions, and the appearance of an artist, song, or source in a recommendation is not a claim about them.
Your Content and Conduct
You keep ownership of the content you create in River of Light — ratings, notes, playlist names, custom sources. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store and process that content so we can run the service for you, including using it as input to recommendation and chat models.
You agree not to:
- attempt to break, abuse, or scrape the App;
- use the App to violate someone else’s rights or any applicable law;
- attempt to extract our prompts, models, or non-public data; or
- impersonate other users or misrepresent your affiliation with anyone.
Beta Software
River of Light is currently in open beta. Features may change, break, or disappear. We may impose rate limits or temporarily disable functionality without notice.
Intellectual Property
The App, its interface, our recommendation engine, the trust-scoring system, and our written editorial content are owned by North Island Technologies, LLC or our licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws. Song titles, artist names, and other factual data are properties of their respective rights holders.
Disclaimers and Liability
The App is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent allowed by law, North Island Technologies, LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits, or goodwill arising from your use of the App.
Apple Standard EULA
If you downloaded River of Light from the Apple App Store, your use is also subject to Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement, available at apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula. North Island Technologies, LLC — not Apple — is responsible for River of Light and its content.
Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access for violations of these Terms or to protect the App. You can stop using River of Light at any time by deleting your account from Settings → Delete account or by emailing support@riveroflight.app.
Changes
We may update these Terms. We will change the “Last updated” date above, and material changes will be announced in the App. Continued use after a change means you accept the new Terms.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.
